Learn how to customize your account settings, configure notifications, and integrate with external services to optimize your BookMeIn.Events experience.

What are User Preferences?

User Preferences allow you to personalize your BookMeIn.Events account by setting your timezone, currency, notification channels, and third-party integrations to match your workflow and communication needs.

Step 1: Access Your Preferences

  1. Click on your profile initials in the top right corner
  2. Select "My Preferences" tab from the profile menu
  3. You'll see the User Preferences page with two main sections

Step 2: Update Basic Preferences

Timezone Setting

Configure your timezone to ensure all event times display correctly:

  • Click on the Timezone dropdown
  • Search or scroll to find your location
  • Select your timezone (e.g., "Europe/Athens")
  • This affects how event dates and times are displayed throughout the platform

Currency Setting

Set your preferred currency for pricing and financial displays:

  • Click on the Currency dropdown
  • Select your currency (e.g., "EUR", "USD", "GBP")
  • All ticket prices and revenue will display in this currency
  • Important for accurate financial reporting

Step 3: Configure Notification Channels

Email Notifications

Enable Email Notifications:

  • Toggle the "Enable Email notification" switch to Yes
  • Receive real-time notifications for important actions (e.g., new attendances, bookings)

Email Notification Address:

  • Enter the email address where you want to receive notifications
  • This can be different from your login email
  • Useful for forwarding notifications to a team inbox

Slack Integration

Connect your Slack workspace for instant team notifications:

Enable Slack Notifications:

  • Toggle "Enable notification in a Slack channel?" to Yes
  • Get real-time alerts in your Slack channel for new attendances and bookings

Slack Notification Webhook:

  1. Create a Slack Incoming Webhook in your Slack workspace
  2. Copy the webhook URL
  3. Paste it in the "Slack Notification URL" field
  4. Notifications will now appear in your designated Slack channel

Setting up a Slack Webhook:

  • Go to your Slack workspace settings
  • Navigate to "Integrations" > "Incoming Webhooks"
  • Create a new webhook and select the target channel
  • Copy the generated URL and paste it here

Step 4: Save Your Preferences

After making changes:

  1. Review all your settings
  2. Click the "Update details" button at the top of the preferences section
  3. Your settings will be saved and applied immediately

Service Integration Options

The Service Integration section offers advanced connectivity options:

Business Calendar Sync

  • "Sync with additional Business Calendar?" - Integrate your events with external calendar systems
  • Currently displays "No" - contact support to enable this feature

Email Notifications Management

  • Additional email notification settings
  • Configure which types of emails you want to receive

Payment Integration

  • Payment token field for direct payment processing
  • Enter Snipcart's payment token if you want to accept direct payments
  • Leave empty if using standard Stripe integration

To update service integrations:

  1. Fill in the relevant integration fields
  2. Click "Update service" at the bottom of the Service Integration section

Timezone Accuracy

  • Always set your correct timezone to avoid confusion with event schedules
  • Update if you relocate or work across multiple time zones
  • Your attendees will see times in their own timezones

  • Email notifications: Great for important updates you need a record of
  • Slack notifications: Perfect for real-time team collaboration
  • Enable both for comprehensive coverage

Currency Consistency

  • Set currency to your primary business currency
  • Ensures financial reports are accurate
  • Attendees still see prices in their local currency at checkout

Regular Reviews

  • Review your preferences quarterly
  • Update notification channels if team structure changes
  • Verify timezone after daylight saving time changes

For Solo Organizers:

  • Enable email notifications for booking confirmations
  • Use your personal email for all notifications

For Teams:

  • Set up Slack integration for instant team alerts
  • Use a shared team email for notification address
  • Ensure all team members have access to notification channels

For Multi-Event Managers:

  • Enable both email and Slack for comprehensive coverage

Troubleshooting

Notifications not arriving?

  • Check your notification toggle is set to "Yes"
